There were a lot of interesting stories this week as I was commenting on people's blogs. Everyone is so creative with their stories and the pictures were fascinating. I saw some really good pictures on there and some of their blog layouts really fit the Indian Epics theme. I am intrigued by one story though, someone wrote a fairytale about Rama and Sita and I really enjoyed it, maybe because I'm a sucker for fairytales and Disney stories. Her story was very well written and was fluent in her writing. It was easier to read because of the way she wrote her story in such a nice and crisp way.
So far in my other classes, there are a lot of homework going on and readings. Endless and endless readings but that is how college is. In my capstone class, we just finished the book Time to Start Thinking by Edward Luce. This book is about the American economy and the challenges we are facing in our nation. The book is so pessimistic, but it really gave an eye opening view of how America is falling apart. Luce talks about the issues with middle class hollowing out, public education, money influence in Washington DC. I mean this book is like problems on top of problems. Anyways I don't want to get into details about politics especially those who are uninterested but reading this book and watching Obama's State of the Union Address was so shocking because it is literally two separate views. If you are interested in politics, you have to read the book! However, all I can say is that this book is definitely not for those "cheerleaders" of America, but it is a different perspective on Luce's opinion about America.
(House of Cards, Netflix Series): House of Cards
Okay, so I posted this picture of House of Cards because I am absolutely obsessed with this show! I can't wait for Season 3 to come out... I mean Frank Underwood just gives me the chills! I don't want to say anymore about it because some people have not seen it and I advise you to!
I didn’t do too well on Week 2 assignments either. I was so caught up on doing homework for other classes that I didn’t have time to do the reading diaries or storytelling post for that week. The reading guides are so helpful because they simplify everything that I didn’t understand. Good luck this semester and hopefully everything else goes smooth in this class!
ReplyDeleteI also had a lot of trouble at first keeping all of the characters straight, the reading guides really were a huge help. I can't believe you didn't get your books until Wednesday that's awful! You should write an angry letter to wherever you bought them from about the shipping time (although I don't know that writing angry letters actually accomplishes anything other than making you feel better, which this post might also do lol). I hope to read more of your stuff this semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! You're a House of Cards fan!! Dude, Kevin Spacey is too awesome for words. His plays his character so well, I was hooked on that show. I didn't know a season 3 is coming out? I assumed it was over at the end of season 2. I remember I began watching after the HUGE season 2 hype that people were posting all over Facebook about where they released all of season 2 at once. That was insane. But awesome.
ReplyDeleteI see you're struggling with some of the assignment like me too. If you're having a problem getting books, I suggest checking them out at the library. They carry some of the books for this class here that you can check out for a few hours, I believe.
