I am currently a student at the University of Oklahoma. I am a senior this year with a political science degree. This is my last semester and really excited because well I am finally done with school soon. Right now I am taking 15 credit hours and working part time at a law firm as a receptionist/secretary. I also work at a restaurant on the weekends so I am very very busy. After I graduate, I plan to take a year off and work and then plan on going to graduate school for my masters.

My interests are yoga, gym, and cooking. I usually love to cook but lately I've been so busy that I kind of stopped. However, I am a very active person and love doing hot yoga and the gym! I run at least 3 miles every two days in a week and go to hot yoga at least once or twice a week depending on my schedule. Yes, I try to make time to be active even with a busy schedule. Staying active and fit is important to me. I am also picking up hobbies in pilates and pole-dancing classes (no it is not a stripper's thing). I enjoy hiking and love being outdoors.

Currently, my favorite TV shows are: Modern Family, Revenge, New Girl, The Mindy Project, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Doctor Who, Sons of Anarchy, Once Upon A Time, House of Cards. I have many more that I have finished as well. People think I'm strange because I like all different TV shows but I just enjoy watching good television.
I don't have any current books because I don't really read. I do so much reading in school especially with my major and work that I choose not to read outside of my time. However, I will read books over life and relationship issues and other advise tips or stories from other people's perspectives. I am a huge fan of reading blogs online or articles such as The Daily Positive and Elite Daily. I'm not much of a fan over books people hype about such as Twilight or The Hunger Games, sorry people but I rather watch the movies.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pets although my ideal dog is a husky!! I've always wanted one and will get one as soon as I have the money to take care of it. Why I love huskies so much? They are absolutely beautiful with their bright colored eyes and they are loyal dogs. Who wouldn't want one?!
Pretty much, thats all about me I can think of. Feel free to comment!

ReplyDeleteHi Christine!
ReplyDeleteI am also finishing up my last semester, but fortunately with only 9 hours. I admire your work ethic and I'm sure it will pay off, and probably already is! Whenever I think that I'm too busy for something, I'm going to remember your introduction ;) I can't bring myself to go to the gym, I am just not a workout-driven person, lol. But I do love hiking and being outdoors as well! Horseback riding is how I get my exercise, generally. But I have been thinking about getting into yoga.
By the way, Once Upon a Time is pretty much my favorite show! I adore it. And I am totally with you on not reading anything that doesn't pertain to school. I read a lot for my liberal studies major as well, though probably not quite as much as you do for political science. Still, I find myself so drained from all of the reading and writing (not that I don't enjoy most of it), that I don't read or write for fun anymore. I look forward to reading exactly what I want to when I want to, on my own time again after graduation! And yeah, I am not a trend-book reader, either. I also just watch the movies, so again, I'm with ya there!
Huskies are awesome! I recommend that you check the Norman and OKC shelters as well as the rescues in the area, because they do adopt out huskies, more than you would think! I'm a rescuer, and I have seen so many pure bred dogs go through the shelter and rescue systems while others are being bought for outrageous prices by people who don't always have the animals' best interests in mind. But goodness, I've always wanted a husky too! But I already have two dogs at the moment, lol.
Anyways, happy blogging! :)
Oops, meant to say, "being bought for outrageous prices by *breeders* who don't always have the animals' best interests in mind".
DeleteHi Christina! I totally get where you're coming from with the whole being busy thing. I am taking 19 hours and work 30 hours a week, along with volunteering activities. But I like being busy, and it sounds like you do too! Political science has always sounded interesting to me, I believe there are so many things you can do with that major. And it is really awesome that you still stay in shape! I have been slacking a little on that lately. I have always wanted tot try yoga but just never gotten the chance. It sounds really relaxing though. Anyways, good luck on your last semester and this class!
ReplyDeleteChristina,
ReplyDeleteI applaud you for your political science degree. Personally, I feel as though that is one of the hardest majors here and you must really have a passion for it. That must be so much fun to work at a law firm. I am assuming that you will want to practice law/ go to law school after you graduate. Good luck this semester!
Here I am finally getting around to your Introduction, Christine! That is great that you are into yoga; it's one of the most important gifts that India has given to the world - just today I was sharing a tweet from OU medical school about all the health benefits of yoga. Meanwhile, as you will see in the epics, the powers granted by yoga and medication are almost magical: the sages have incredible powers that make them almost like gods, thanks to their physical and mental discipline. Did you happen to see the yoga Storybook from this class? I learned so much from that project; I had not realized how many of the yoga positions are connected to the ancient stories of India. Maybe you will find some connections like that in the reading too! Here is that Storybook if you are curious; it is really cool I think: IE Yoga Studios: Pose Origins Workshop. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! You and I have a lot of similar interests. For starters, I do hot yoga!! I am glad to see there’s a fellow yogi out there in our class. I also watch a ton of random shows. Some ones that match up with yours are New Girl, Revenge, Sons of Anarchy and House of Cards. It’s really fun to find people that watch diverse shows because some of those are super girly and some are pretty rough. Congrats on almost being done with undergrad and best of luck to you as you pursue your masters degree!
ReplyDeleteHey Christine! I have heard a lot of people talk about hot yoga! It sounds really interesting! I don't think it is anything I will ever want to try, but it still sounds interesting! We really match up on the tv shows though! I love Revenge, New Girl, Doctor Who, Modern Family, and I just started Once Upon a Time and I love it! Hope you find sometime this semester to get some cooking in!
ReplyDeleteChristine, what a coincidence! I also work part time at a law firm as a receptionist. Although I'm only doing it for 6 weeks as an internship. I love hot yoga, and wish I could go every single day. But, like you, I have such a busy schedule that I have been unable to go as much as I would like. I also like to stay active, but this year I have found it difficult. Good luck with school!
ReplyDeleteHey Christine! We have a ton of stuff in common! Fitness is important to me, and it's definitely something that has helped keep me sane throughout college. Going to the gym or going on a run when I'm stressed is the perfect way to clear my mind. Being outdoors hiking or camping is one of my favorite things to do if I ever have a free day or weekend. Also, as a guy I'm not ashamed to admit that Vampire Diaries and the Originals are awesome shows! Huskies are great dogs by the way. I don't have one, but I know friends who have huskies and they are amazing! When I get a dog in a few years I plan on getting either a boxer or a husky! Good luck with your semester and have a great year off between undergrad and masters. That will be a wonderful break to take for sure.
ReplyDeleteHey Christine! Oh my gosh good luck during your last semester. I still have a year before I'm even going to think about what I'm going to do after college. I love hot yoga too there is nothing more refreshing. You also have really great taste in television shows, I feel like I could watch Modern Family all day, every day. Have a great last semester!!
ReplyDeleteHey Christine! Congrats on almost being done with school! I can imagine how excited you must be. That’s so crazy that you work two jobs while going to school full time. I need to start cooking too. I’ve been spending way too much money on food lately! That’s awesome that you’re so active. I actually took some pole-fitness classes last summer and boy was it a workout! Anyway, best of luck with your last semester! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Christine!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on graduating this semester! I also love to cook, and find it so hard to do so during the semester. I can tell you, I do love my crockpot though! :) I am trying my best to get more active/fit, more than anything to set a good example for my son and family. I've honestly have ALWAYS wanted to try hot yoga and pole-dancing, it just sounds interesting and physically challenging. I can also feel you on not reading during the semesters, and while in school. I just can't find myself willingly adding another commitment to my list, when I already feel bogged down. Good luck on your future studies!
Christine, I am a letters major and my roommate is a political science major, amazing how similar they are. I think it interesting to see how many people are going to graduate school and the different routes they are taking. Also, I like to see how many people are taking a year off or not before starting school. Huskies are one of my favorite breeds of dogs as well, my parents were just always small dog people growing up. Hopefully, you can get your husky soon!
ReplyDeleteHey! Congratulations on graduating! I definitely believe that taking a year off can help you to refocus your mind! You sound so busy, but sometimes it is nice to be busy and getting lots of things done. I love New Girl, Vampire Diaries, and Once Upon a Time, they are all such good shows. I LOVE huskies! Have a great semester, it’s almost halfway done!
ReplyDeleteHello Christine, Nice to meet you! I have always wanted to have a husky too. One of my family friends had one and they are one of my favorite dogs. Not sure if they are best in Oklahoma, but with a lot of space they would be okay. Congrats on your last semester at OU. Time flies doesn't it. Good luck with everything after graduation!
ReplyDeleteHey Christine!
ReplyDeletePolitical Science has always interested me. I’ve been told it is a good seg-way into law school but I’m not sure I would have the discipline to work through it! I can completely relate to being busy! I feel like I always have a million things to do! Good luck with your final semester, and congratulations on graduation!
Christine,
ReplyDeleteI can definitely feel for you in the fact that working and going to school full time is definitely a hard task. However, it will be so with it in the end when it is all done and we have our degree! I work full time and can’t wait to be done with school and really see what life has to offer outside of school. Good luck with everything after graduation and with this semester!
Hi Christine! Congrats on almost finishing college and being a senior! I am junior this year and I'm sad just thinking about starting my senior year because I love college and everything about it. I bet the time feels like its flied so fast because thats how i feel and I'm not even in my senior year yet. Also, I like that The Originals as well as House of Cards is on your list of shows you watch. Season 3 of House of Cards just came out and I've told my brother not to tell me our Netflix password because I know what I will be doing for the next fews days if I knew it. And you should read books! Though I do agree that there is not much time with all the readings for school. But if you do end up reading anything, you should read Game of Thrones!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, wish you the best and hope you enjoy the rest of your senior year!
Hi Christine!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on almost being finished with your undergraduate studies! I just graduated with AAS in Nursing this past December and will be going straight into a RN-BSN program this fall the finish up my Bachelor's. After that, I will also be taking a break from school before I continue on with my Master's and DNP. I am a huge fan of OUAT, Revenge, and New Girl. My studies haven't allowed me to read anything other than textbooks for the past 4 years during the school year, but I always try to take advantage of the breaks to read something new. I actually prefer to read the book over watching the movie adaptation of novels. The books always have more detail and the movies never do them justice. However, I do still enjoy watching the movie version.
Good luck finishing up your degree this semester!
Hey Christine!
ReplyDeleteI can totally agree with you on New Girl. I picked up this show over Christmas Break and ended up moving to India during a pretty pivotal point in the show. Unfortunately Netflix is not a thing here, so I haven't been able to see what happens! I guess I will just have to find out whenever I make it back across the world. I hope your semester is going well!
Hello Christine! I totally relate (and sympathize!) to your busy schedule. I’m ready for graduation! Your hobbies are so wonderful! I take pole classes as well and it’s so challenging! I absolutely hate exercising, and pole is the only thing I’ve found extremely enjoyable and rewarding. I actually just bought my own x-pole to practice with when I’m not at the studio. Best of luck on the rest of your semester!
ReplyDeleteHello Christine! Wow, it sounds like you really have a hectic schedule! I can’t imagine having two jobs along with taking 15 hours. The weekends are usually down time and you work then too!! Do you ever have time to sleep? Anyways, that’s wonderful that you want to pursue a masters degree. I also love cooking and doing yoga. Both of those are very therapeutic and I’m sure it helps with your stress levels. Best of luck to you!
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! Wow, it truly does sound like you're having a busy semester...but congrats on being a senior! That's great! I also love yoga and running, and I agree that it is so important even when you are busy. I try to workout every day if I can, although sometimes that can get hard. Ahh, I wish I could have a husky as well!
ReplyDeleteHi, Christine! Man, you sound just as busy as I am. Like you, I work at a restaurant, with most of my work there coming on the weekends, the restaurant business is so tiring. I also plan to be my Master’s after I graduate, but I am hoping to launch right into it after graduation. I am jealous over how active you are! I try to be active as much as possible, but I usually find myself being too tired by the time I get home to really do anything. Good luck in your last semester, you only have a few more weeks left!
ReplyDeleteChristine,
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate to the stress of working and attending school simultaneously. However, I can not imagine what that would be like as a senior! I’m also a senior (not working anymore, thankfully) and I have a laundry list of group projects ha ah. I’ll also be continuing my education after graduation this May! Hey, I also have quite a passion for all things outdoors! I’m sure you’ll be able to notice with all of my stories.
Christine! I can relate to you a little bit. Working and going to school isn't the easiest thing. I am so inspired by how much you work out even with your crazy schedule. I think taking a year off is a good thing because its tiring just staying super busy! Congratulation on your graduation and I hope the best for your future :)
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! I just love Modern Family as well. It is such a fun description of how real families are today in the twenty first century. I can relate to being so busy I lose track of the gym. However, it is so important for us to stay active with all the stress school puts us all through. I have never tried hot yoga. That sounds interesting and something I may just have to try. It is so awesome that you are going to be graduating in less then a month now. I bet you are so excited. Good luck getting a real job and being success! I know all us Sooners will do great!
ReplyDeleteChristine,
ReplyDeletecongratulations on this being your last semester. I'm sure having a year off while feel like quite a nice change of pace. Do you plan to do any travelling at all? I took a semester off after my junior year, and it was definitely needed. I worked full time and didn't get to do anything exceptionally fun, but I think a break from school is important for some people.
I'm glad that being active is so much fun for you. It can be a great way to relieve stress and build mental and physical strength. I hope you continue on with it even on your time off!
Hi Christine! Congratulations on being so close to finishing up school! It sounds like you are definitely keeping busy between work and school and activities. It will be nice to have a year off before grad school. I also love quite a few of the TV shows you mentioned. I just started watching Mindy Project and I've been watching New Girl, Doctor Who, and Once Upon a Time for a while. Good luck with the rest of your semester!
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteNearly the end of the semester and I have yet to comment on your blog until now! Congrats on being so very close to finishing your undergraduate work. I want a pet as well, but I am entirely too busy (and broke) to give it the attention and love it deserves! I hope to get a few after I am settled down, though!
Hi Christine, nice to meet you. Just so you know, finding your introduction was a little difficult, it would be much easier if you had a place in your sidebar where all of your labels were displayed. I'm also a senior in my last semester! Things are so crazy right? But isn't it exciting to know that in less than what is it now, three weeks? We will be graduating!!!
